Twyst's mission is to eliminate checkout lines in stores. Our "Lift & Leave" technology can be applied to nearly any type of retail store environment and shopping container.

In this smart shopping system the connected bag experience begins with a customer picking up the bag in the retail store. The bag holds an inner branded bag that the customer will leave the store with. As they shop, they fill the bag with merchandise. Twyst offers several different options for immediate frictionless checkout using this technology. The shopping container can include baskets, bags, carts, POS countertops, where their are no more cash registers. 

One scenario is the customer simply pushes a button on the bag and the store associate approaches the guest to checkout. The employee is equipped with a tablet that communicates via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) with the bag. The tablet displays the cart summary (quantity and type of each item). The transaction is completed with a swipe of the customer's credit card and confirmed when they exit the store.

The bag's electronics assembly reads each bagged item tag via RFID. At checkout, tag information is relayed from the electronics assembly to the BLE enabled tablet. The tablet is connected to the retailers POS system to account for the sale and inventory.

€‹A vast majority of shoppers consider long lines as the worst experience of shopping in-store and prefer to abandon stores with long lines. 70% of retailers report consumers will wait 5 minutes or less before they abandon a purchase and go elsewhere. Twyst is focused on eliminating the checkout line and collecting new sources of data to enable the retailer to streamline operations.
